Wind protection: Shelter from north and west winds reduces colony stress

Pesticide risk: Minimum 2-3 miles from fields sprayed with neonicotinoids

Neighbor proximity: 300+ feet recommended; check local ordinances

Stocking density guidelines:

Excellent forage areas: 40-60 hives per location

Moderate forage areas: 20-30 hives per location

Space yards at least 2-3 miles apart to avoid foraging overlap
